Tom Langenstein LMT, the owner/director of the Kona Shiatsu Clinic, has an Associates Degree in Biology from the Community College of the Finger Lakes in Canandaigua, New York. He formerly worked as an aid in the physical therapy and home health departments at the Kona Community Hospital in Kealakekua, Hawaii. Licensed in massage therapy in 1978, he went into practice in association with a Osteopathic physician in Kealakekua under the name of The Kona Physical Medicine Center. He went on for further study in Shiatsu Therapy with Sensei Indei Fumihiko in Honolulu at the Aisen Shiatsu School. He married his wife Lynn in 1979 and together they have since run the clinic. At that time they changed the name of the business to The Kona Shiatsu Clinic. In 1988 Tom and Lynn moved the location of the clinic to it's present location in Captain Cook, Hawaii. 

Tom has been a self-help instructor for the Arthritis Foundation, served as chair on the State Regulatory Board of Massage, chaired the rules committee, and assisted the examining agency as an item writer and in developing exam content for applicants for Hawaii State license. He is a member of the Shiatsu Therapist Association of America and the American Massage Therapy Association. He teaches Shiatsu to therapists at spas and health venues nationally as well as public speaking at various local forums.
